Essential oils are a wonderful natural way to calm stress and anxious feelings...They are being used by more and more hospitals. Many hospitals use just a few oils, while Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital uses 33 different essential oils. A study done at their hospital showed more than 51% of participating nurses reported decreased stress levels using lavender and Clary Sage essential oils.
Other essential oils I use to calm stress and anxious feelings include lavender, clary sage, ylang-ylang, bergamot (found in Earl Grey tea), Roman chamomile(think chamomile tea) and my favorite oil of all frankincense.
You can diffuse essential oils in the air, apply them topically and in some cases take them internally. However, not all essential oils are the same. It’s pretty true that you get what you pay for. The $10 jug of oil that you buy online probably is not pure therapeutic grade essential oil and has chemicals and fillers in it. While in the movie Rotten they are talking about food, this line works for essential oils too: “it's straight out of the drug dealers playbook. Cut your pure product with inexpensive filler to increase volume”.
