We’ve all experienced “that moment” — when one tiny thing is like the straw that broke the camels’ back.
The defining moment of my anxiety involved a bag of Cheetos – yes, the orange puffy treat. My poor children sobbing, begging me to stop, as I pounded and pounded their “special treat” into crumbs, while screaming at the top of my lungs. (They didn’t get junk food very often and it really was a special occasion). It may not sound like a big deal to you, but this was my “straw that broke the camel’s back” moment. After struggling with anxiety for my entire life, and not even realizing it, I just couldn’t take it anymore. This was the moment that changed my life – I recognized I was out of control and sought help. First I went the medication route and then, when I realized that was not the right answer for me, I began what is now a 20+ year journey of researching holistic and natural approaches to anxiety.
Had I not had “the Cheetos incident”, I would have never been able to handle what was to come. Shortly after “the Cheetos incident”, we had another cross country move and I thought it could be a fun adventure to drive 3,000 miles with my young children without my husband (what was I thinking?) Talk about stress!
In 2001 came the biggest challenge of my life – my husband went into liver failure for the first of 12 – 15 times, each time taking him to within inches of death. If I hadn’t been able to handle the stress and anxiety of his health crisis and trying to keep life ”normal” for our children, I doubt he would be alive today. Thankfully he had a successful transplant in 2003 and is healthy today.
And yet, I was still NOT on the other side of anxiety. In 2009, I became a reluctant caregiver to my very nasty mother who was on hospice for 9 long months, while my husband was out of work and we were in serious financial distress.
I share this with you, so you understand, I KNOW anxiety and I have learned how to get on the other side of it. We are taught from a very young age to brush our teeth every day to prevent the buildup of plaque and tartar which lead to cavities. Why aren’t we taught how simple and easy ways to handle our emotions to prevent the buildup of stress and anxiety to panic attacks and “Cheeto moments”? The key is consistency. I must practice these simple techniques each and every day or I lose my balance and I could fall back into anxiety’s clutches. It really is that simple.
Life throws us curve balls: job loss, death, relationships ended, financial crises, etc. The key is to practice keeping your balance every day, so that when these things happen, you can wobble a little bit and then find your balance again. If we wait until the curveball comes, we won’t have the presence of mind to even remember any of the many easy ways to calm anxiety, it will flatten us.
My mission is to help you learn that you CAN, not just manage or cope with anxiety, but truly break free from its vice-like grip and live a life of freedom, joy, balance and love.
What is YOUR “Cheetos moment”?
I take a very different approach to anxiety than many others do. I KNOW it is possible to break free from the grip of anxiety. The thing is, anxiety has trained us to REACT to what is going on around us, and neuroscience has proven that when we keep repeating a pattern over and over again, it gets stronger. When we train ourselves to RESPOND to situations, instead of react, we build a new neural pathway that truly can take us to a new place where we can say goodbye to anxiety forever.
I empower my clients with solutions that work. A few of the many different techniques that I use are hypnosis, meditation, guided meditation, EFT/Tapping, energy work..and the list goes on! The reason I use so many different techniques is there is no one-size-fits-all.
If we rely on something “external” to try to change ourselves, we will never be able to tap into the vibrant power that each of us has within! I see the beautiful magnificent being that you are at your core. Like Michelangelo saw the statue already inside the stone, what I do is help you remove what doesn’t belong and reveal YOUR magnificence! We all deserve to be happy, healthy and to THRIVE!
My first career was as Celebrity Radio DJ Stevie Knox. I realize now, looking back, that even then I was hypnotizing my listeners to come back day after day. And while I entertained my listeners, I also empowered them to strive for more- for a better life.
Though I didn’t realize it then, I can see that I was anxious and stressed since childhood and radio was my ticket away from anxiety. I’d let the music take me away and I would call and talk to the DJs. I even hitchhiked to the train station to visit them! So it was a natural fit for me to go into radio as a career.
After working with thousands of clients, from age 8 – 82, (and from my own personal experience) it is abundantly clear to me that what happens in childhood affects us long into adulthood.
Now more and more evidence-based research is coming out to support an undeniable link between childhood adversities and physical & emotional health concerns in adulthood. Thankfully science and research are also proving that we can re-boot our brains!
The vast majority of what my adult clients have come to me for help with has all been rooted in childhood. Once we “flip the switch” and re-boot the brain, they are free of something that had been holding them back and weighing them down for decades! That is one of the most empowering feelings there is! Isn't that what you really want?

When we are able to rewire their brains early, it changes the whole trajectory of their life!
Recently, I worked with a 14-year-old cheerleader with a debilitating fear of dogs. I explained to her mother that our work together would have far more reaching implications beyond being comfortable around dogs.
After our first session, she was able to land a backward handstand and after the next session, she earned a spot on the competitive cheer team as a freshman! She knew this was a direct result of our working together and “re-wiring” her brain! After our third session, she was able to go to a party where there were dogs and she was FINE – absolutely NO TRIGGER! Her mother sent me this email...
